What usually counts as a countable asset?
Countable assets often include bank accounts, CDs, stocks, bonds, and most IRAs or brokerage accounts in the applicant's name. Pennsylvania generally exempts a home up to the current home-equity limit ($752,000), one car, and burial plots — with many exceptions.
This calculator does not apply the 60-month look-back, trusts, or jointly owned property. Those can change the picture completely.
